 AC Milan menang secara dramatis 3-2 lewat aksi comebackkala meladeni Hellas Verona di Stadion San Siro, Minggu (17/10/2021) dini hari WIB.

Olivier Giroud muncul sebagai pemicu comeback dramatis yang diukir AC Milan saat melawan Verona.

Pada laga pekan kedelapan Liga Italia 2021-2022 itu, AC Milan sempat tertinggal dua gol lebih dulu oleh tim tamu Verona.

Verona menutup babak pertama dengan keunggulan 2-0 berkat gol Gianluca Caprari (7’) dan Antonin Barak (24’ pen.).

AC Milan lantas bangkit usai masa rehat. Gol sundulan Olivier Giroud (59’) menjadi pemicu comeback dramatis Milan.

Setelah gol Giroud, AC Milan tampak lebih percaya diri dalam membangun serangan. Situasi pun berbalik setelah Milan berhasil mencetak dua gol tambahan lewat eksekusi penalti Franck Kessie (76’) dan aksi bunuh diri Koray Guenter (78’).

“Usai babak pertama, saya berpikir di ruang ganti bahwa laga belum selesai dan kami perlu lebih menunjukkan karakter,” kata Olivier Giroud seperti dilansir Football Italia dari Sky Sport Italia.

“Kami butuh waktu untuk menemukan ritme permainan, termasuk saya. Jadi, mungkin saya perlu lebih banyak bertanding untuk mencapai kebugaran prima.”

“Hal terpenting adalah bangkit dari posisi tertinggal 0-2 dan itu begitu emosional, melakukannya di hadapan fans. Saya sangat senang,” tutur Giroud yang musim ini telah mengemas tiga gol buat AC Milan.

Giroud lantas menyoroti perubahan sikap yang mendorong keberhasilan Milan mencatat comeback dramatis atas Verona.

“Kami lebih menunjukkan determinasi pada babak kedua, sebab sebelum rehat, kami terlalu banyak kalah duel di lapangan. Mungkin kami perlu lebih agresif dan kami melakukannya dengan sangat baik.”

Aspek positif lain yang bisa dipetik AC Milan dari duel melawan Verona adalah kemunculan perdana duet Olivier Giroud dan Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Milan bermain dengan dua bomber setelah pelatih Stefano Pioli memasukkan Ibrahimovic pada menit ke-77.

Kehadiran Giroud dan Ibrahimovic di lapangan sukses membuat bek Verona gugup. Puncaknya, Koray Guenter membuat gol bunuh diri pada menit ke-78 usai salah melakukan antisipasi terhadap operan silang Samu Castillejo ke area kotak penalti.

Namun, kebersamaan duet Giroud dan Ibrahimovic cuma berlangsung 5 menit. Pada menit ke-82, Giroud digantikan oleh Sandro Tonali.

“Saya menyukainya. Saya tak sabar bermain dengannya lagi dan lagi,” tutur Giroud soal kolaborasi singkatnya dengan Ibrahimovic di laga versus Verona.

Verona closed the first half with a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Gianluca Caprari (7') and Antonin Barak (24' pen.).

AC Milan then rose after the break. Olivier Giroud's header (59 ') triggered Milan's dramatic comeback.

After Giroud's goal, AC Milan looked more confident in building attacks. The situation turned around after Milan managed to score two additional goals through the execution of a Franck Kessie penalty (76') and an suicide by Koray Guenter (78').

"After the first half, I thought in the dressing room that the game was not over and we needed to show more character," said Olivier Giroud as reported by Football Italia from Sky Sport Italia.

"We need time to find the rhythm of the game, including me. So maybe I need to play more to get to top fitness.”

"The most important thing was to come back from 2-0 down and it was so emotional to do it in front of the fans. I'm very happy," said Giroud, who this season has scored three goals for AC Milan.

Giroud then highlighted the change in attitude that prompted Milan's success in recording a dramatic comeback against Verona.

"We showed more determination in the second half, because before the break we lost too many duels on the pitch. Maybe we need to be more aggressive and we did very well."

Another positive aspect that AC Milan can take from the duel against Verona is the first appearance of the duo Olivier Giroud and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Milan played with two bombers after coach Stefano Pioli brought in Ibrahimovic in the 77th minute.

The presence of Giroud and Ibrahimovic on the pitch successfully made Verona defender nervous. The peak, Koray Guenter scored an own goal in the 78th minute after wrongly anticipating Samu Castillejo's cross into the penalty box area.
