Bayern Munich humiliated Borussia Moenchengladbach 0-5 in the German League Cup which became the first humiliating defeat. Moenchengladbach became the first team to score five goals against Bayern Munich since Borussia Dortmund won 5-2 in the 2012 German Cup final. Moenchengladbach also became the first team to score three goals in the first 21 minutes against Bayern in a German Cup match. Gladbach made a dream start as they took an early three-goal lead in 21 minutes thanks to Kouadio Kone and two goals from Ramy Bensebaini, both from the penalty spot. Bayern had to wait until the 35th minute to get a shot on goal - but their comeback attempt would not last long.
